Grilled Cheese w/ a Twist

There is nothing more classic than a nice grilled cheese sandwich. It's simple enough that almost anyone can make it and with the different kinds of bread and cheeses available, the options are almost limitless. Here's a different take on a grilled cheese.

This sandwich includes aged white cheddar slices (the good stuff from the deli counter), smoked bacon, mustard, and a couple slices of green apples (three slices, Granny Smith) and a bit of butter. Try not to use too much of any of the individual ingredients. The beauty of this sandwich is the contrasting flavors and textures.

First - melt butter over medium heat.

Second - layer the ingredients in this order: slice of bread, aged cheddar, apple slices, bacon, second slice of bread.

Third - toast both sides of the sandwich and then remove. Slice and enjoy!
